Founded in 1972, DSC provides educational, professional, residential and behavioral support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Champaign and Ford counties. If you are seeking a rewarding and fulfilling job, we are currently hiring for the position of Community Day Service Specialist.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As a CDSS at DSC, you will support people we serve both on-site and in the community. In this role you will plan, organize, and facilitate the active participation of people we serve in daily activities, assist with quality of life issues and provide training and support as needed. Additionally, you will manage a caseload of individuals served that includes the development, evaluation, and modification of people’s programs and completion of related paperwork. Each day, you will carry out a variety of rewarding work where you will play an integral role in the success of the company and our mission to support people to live a rich and meaningful life. 

REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an agency van. Must successfully complete required trainings. Must have sufficient physical stamina and mobility to push, pull, and lift. 
• 1 year or more years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Experience and/or education in rehabilitation, special education, therapeutic recreation, psychology, art, music, theatre, or psychology preferred.

HOURS:
• 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

• $15.50 per hour

• Grant-funded hiring/new employee bonus of $500 (payable upon completion of training), and retention bonuses up to 3 times per year through June of 2024 – up to $1,500 per year!​​​​​​​
