Founded in 1972, DSC provides educational, professional, residential and behavioral support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Champaign and Ford counties. If you are seeking a rewarding and fulfilling job, we are currently hiring for the position of Community Living Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Community Living Specialist at DSC, you will be responsible for assessing individual needs and providing ongoing, personal support and guidance with all areas of daily living. This includes developing, implementing, and modifying Individual Support Plans (ISPs), scheduling, transporting and participating in medical, dental, psychiatric and diagnostic appointments and providing financial oversight and monitoring as Rep Payee.

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge, understanding and the ability to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Polished interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to undertake responsibility, take initiative and to structure and arrange own schedule within assigned work hours. Able to work a variety of hours, including participation in the agency on call emergency response pager system.

  • Successful completion of agency training within 90 days of hire.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Reliable transportation with adequate insurance to cover transportation of individuals.


HOURS:

  • 40 hours a week
