DSC provides educational, professional, residential, employment and behavioral support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Champaign and Ford counties. If you are seeking a rewarding and fulfilling job, we are currently hiring for the position of Supported Employment Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Supported Employment Specialist at DSC, you will provide support to the individuals we serve through development and implementation of supported employment opportunities. In this role, you will assist individuals in discovering their professional aspirations and employment preferences to determine their appropriate job match. You will also provide job coaching and on-the-job supervisions to supported employment participants. Each day, you will enjoy rewarding work where you will play an integral role in the success of the company and our mission to support people to live a rich and meaningful life.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred one or more years of experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required and access to own transportation
  • Must have sufficient physical stamina and mobility to push, pull, and lift
  • Knowledge of the local business community and ability to initiate contacts to develop potential Supported Employment opportunities
  • The ability to work independently and good written/verbal communication skills

HOURS:

  • 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Grant-funded hiring/new employee bonus of $400 (payable upon completion of training), and retention bonuses up to 4 times per year through June 2026 - up to $1,600 per year!
